The Morning at Our School – Saketh Gummaluri (5C, Meridian school Banjara Hills)

    ADMIN 27th February, 2025

After the session, I rush back home to get ready for school. This is where the real adventure begins – the race against time. We sprint (okay, drive, but it feels like sprinting) to school, trying to beat the clock, and just like that, we manage to slip through the school gate just in the nick of time.

And then comes breakfast. Drumroll, please!

The teachers are like food superheroes, making sure we eat a balanced diet, while the staff ensures no crumb goes to waste. I love it when my friends joke around saying, “The food gods won’t be happy if you waste food!” It’s hilarious and motivating – no one wants angry food gods!

The school assembly follows breakfast, and it’s one of my favorite parts. I eagerly listen to the announcements, which are always exciting, especially when they showcase the school’s achievements. I also enjoy playing the keyboard during the assembly – the school song, the IB song, and even the exit music as we head to class. Let’s just say, it feels like I am doing a concert.

Our classes are engaging, and I get to learn something new every day. The teachers know us so well and always find creative ways to keep us hooked. In Math, we play with numbers and solve problems that sometimes make me feel like a mini detective. In UOI (Unit of Inquiry), we dive deep into how everything in the world is connected – imagine peeling back the layers of a giant onion of knowledge. And in English, we practice reading, writing, and speaking so we sound all fancy and smart!

If it sounds like all we’re doing is having fun and playing, wait – there’s more! We also have our games classes, where I get to play cricket and learn some pro-like showoff moves from my friends. After all, to play like a pro, you need to act like one! But the fun doesn’t stop there – thanks to our amazing teachers, who always encourage us to explore our creativity, I’ve found time to write a few poems and feel like my favorite poet Kenn Nesbitt… though I’m pretty sure Kenn never had to rhyme about cricket, he did write about tennis (My Goldfish Took up Tennis).

But the absolute best part? The differential learning program on some days – that’s when we get to showcase our talents. Who doesn’t love a bit of a spotlight, right?

    And then, there’s lunch.

It’s the best time to refuel and catch up with friends while munching yummy food. And just like that, another thrilling morning zips by, and we are ready for the afternoon session!

    ♫♫♬ 5C, we’re the best, no debate,

From dreams to goals, we dominate!

We’re bold, we’re strong, we always break through,

5C forever, me and you!  ♫♫♬

    Bye!

    Saketh Gummaluri,

Tennis begins, and I feel the thrill as a few of my serves whizz past my opponents like mini rockets. Some days, I ask to play with my dad, and that adds an extra dash of excitement – after all, who doesn’t enjoy the chance to attempt to outplay their dad? (Spoiler alert: It doesn’t always work!)
